New Year, New Tools: Winter Break Snapshot Writing

Hi Everyone! My friends and I over at See Mama Teach are linking up for a fun New Years blog post!

We’re sharing ideas and freebies to help you ease back into January and I’m stop
 number 7!

You can click here to go to stop number 1.

Starting back after winter break can be a challenge. It's almost like the first day of school all over again. One thing all teachers know is that the kids are EXCITED to come back! When they walk into the room the first thing they want to tell you is all about their break. As the teacher, you want to hear all 22 stories but it can get overwhelming and time consuming. Winter Break Snap Shots can help with that.

This fun writing activity allows your students to share all the exciting things they did over winter break. Print the snapshot page and have it laying on their desk for morning work (or use during your writing block.) They can draw pictures of everything they did and then write a paragraph do describe what they drew.

You can print the cover page and turn their writing into a class book. When their is time, they can share about their breaks aloud if they choose too. This also allows you to read them on your own time when you can instead of taking up class time.
