Weekend Warriors: 3-2-1 Teacher Bio

The Weekend Warriors are back! This month we are getting a little personal to share some things about ourselves.

One of my favorite things about blogging besides sharing and learning ideas to use in the classroom is to learn about the person behind the blog. I love making that connection with the person behind the keyboard and relating to them. Today I'll be sharing my 3-2-1 bio and hopefully you'll get to know me, the PERSON a little bit better. :)

1. Are you type A or B? I am most definitely type B! I'm one of those organized mess teachers. My desk is always covered with papers but I know exactly where something is! You can read about me keeping it real here!I'm not much of a planner and my lesson plans are simple and to the point. Have you seen this awesome post floating around on social media lately? This post from Education to the Core describes me perfectly, except for the completive part. That is something that I definitely am!

2. For being so type B, I can not stand giving a child a worksheet and telling them to learn. That just isn't me. I'm a very hands on, get the kids up and moving type teacher. We use journals a lot! Math stations and Daily 5 are a MUST for me! Task cards are my FAVORITE thing! We play iSpy, we scoot around the room, and we have FUN! We sing, we dance, we are goofy! It is just how I am. I hate workbooks. "Rigor" can be fun. It doesn't have to come from a workbook. Put the paper away, get out your white boards (or use your desk) and explore the world of learning without paper! You can read this post I did on worksheet"less" task cards!

3. I am the over sensitive teacher. Actually, I am that over sensitive person. I want to bring that child home that you know isn't get fed enough or doesn't have a warm bed to sleep in. I am that teacher that who purchases shoes for a child and sneaks them in their backpack because their only pair is full of holes. I am that teacher who can't stand to see a child miss treated. I am that teacher who comes home crying to her husband because of something a child told them that day. I am that teacher who will stay up all night wondering if that child ate dinner. I am that teacher who will hug on a child multiple times during the day just so they know that they are loved. I am that teacher who came THIS close to bringing one of those students home this past year. I care about their well being and what will happen to them once they leave my class. I am that teacher who CARES about those children outside of the classroom.

1. I am a child of the One True KING! My main goal in life is to live through His word. I want people to see Him in me. I want to raise my daughter to trust in His timing and to put her faith in Him.

2. I am all things DIY! I won't buy something if I know I can make it. My cameo is one of my favorite things along with mason jars, acrylic paint, glitter, modge podge, and scrapbook paper! I love to find trash and turn it into treasure. Bringing an old piece of furniture to life puts a smile on my face. My list of DIY project for our nursery is a mile long and I'm loving every minute of it! Click here to check out my DIY board on Pinterest

I could sit here all day and tell you how I want to travel to Ireland and Italy. I want to explore all 50 states and ride in a hot air balloon. My bucket list is more than a mile long full of adventures that I hope to one day take. You can see all sorts of dreams on my Bucket List Pinterest board. What I chose to share with you is something real.

My husband and I have been married for two years. We have been saving every possible spare penny to buy our first home together. Now with our daughter set to make her appearance soon, we want this dream more than ever. It is something we hope to accomplish within the next year. A place of our own, with some land to watch our daughter grow up. There isn't much that sounds better to me right now.

Another bucket list item of mine that some might call silly is to spend the rest of my life with my husband. I was very fortunate to see both sets of my grandparents celebrate over 60 years of marriage. I love hearing the stories that they share and their experiences they've shared together. Watching two people grow in such a way that is priceless in my eyes. That is something that I want. To spend the next 60+ years with my husband no matter how bumpy it gets along the way. 2 years down, a life time to go.

Now that you've seen me get all sentimental, it's your turn! We'd love for you to link up with us.

TPT Seller Challenge Week 1: Makeover Madness

Hey ya'll! I've teamed up with Sparkling in Second, Peppy Zesty Teacher, Teach Create Motivate, and Third in Hollywood for the TPT Seller Challenge. These ladies have helped get my butt into gear and motivated me to get some things done in my TPT store that I've been putting off. I'll be participating in a 4 week challenge to step up my game!

Week 1 was all about product makeovers. I became a seller on TPT in September of 2012. Over the past 2.5 years I've grown so much as a seller and I like to think that I finally found my niche. My Place Value Activity Pack: Hundreds, Tens, and Ones was my very FIRST product uploaded to TPT. I was so PROUD of what I had accomplished. After it was uploaded, I went to school the next day and could not shut up about it to my partner teacher at the time. We immediately put it good use and it quickly became a BEST SELLER in my TPT store

At the time I was very proud of what I had accomplished but when I looked at it now, it was something that needed a definite makeover with improved creative juices. When this challenge first started it was exactly what I needed to get this baby updated to MY current standards! After tweaking it over the past few days, I am super proud of how it has turned out.

When I got started on this it made my eyes hurt! I used free fonts, my backgrounds were somewhat blurry, and I hated the clip art. Most of my answer sheets were very plane without any sort of character at all. It got a complete facelift!

What do you think?

It includes 5 task card activities to help teach and review place value up to 999. All of these activities can be used for whole or small group instruction. They can easily be placed in a center to independent practice or done with a partner.

If you own this unit PLEASE go redownload it NOW! :)

If you don't own this unit, I've put it ON SALE through tomorrow 6/20/15! You an grab it for
20% OFF in my TPT store

I hope you enjoy and love this update as much as I do.

Currently June

Its CURRENTLY time! I'm linking up with Farley for this months link up! I'm just warning you, there is tons of baby girl excitement in this post! If you are new to my blog, I'm currently 6 months pregnant and could not be more excited for the arrival of our baby girl in a few months!

Listening: One Tree Hill is my all time favorite show. I was devastated when it ended. Now I binge watch all the seasons about once a year. So, I'm laid up in my bedroom with my feet propped up and watching on Netflix! Ah the joys of summer!

Loving: I am a lake rat. My family has a cabin on Possum Kingdom Lake here in Texas and it is one of my favorite places in the whole world. Texas has suffered from severe drought for the past 5 years and unfortunately our lake cabin hasn't had water since. Over the past month, Texas has gotten enough rain to make a lake the size of the state of Rhode Island. LOL! Although the floods and storms have caused a lot of damage to my great state, our lake cabin now has water again! A month ago, you couldn't even see water from our dock, and now it is overflowing. It took 5 years but God finally answered our prayers. There is lots of clean up to be done but I can't wait to get our boat out on the water and for our daughter to spend the summer there next year!

Thinking: We have a doctors appointment today! I can't wait to see our baby girl. That sweet heartbeat makes my heart smile.

Wanting: I feel like I say this all the time but I miss my girls! My best friends live on the opposite side of the state and I only see them about once a year. They are coming for my baby shower in a few weeks and I could not be more excited!!!

Needing: Our sweet girl will be here in about 3 months!!! Can ya'll tell that I am excited or what? My   pretty home office has been downsized to a small corner in our spare bedroom and it is now going to be our sweet nursery. We have the crib set up and now we just need to start organizing things we've already gotten and getting ready for her arrival. I have several projects I need to get done. I see a trip or two to Hobby Lobby over the next several weeks!

Here is our precious crib! I am in LOVE with it! It only took 3 stores and 2 states (we live about an hour from Shreveport, LA) to get it! My husband got major points for dealing with my craziness of wanting this crib! He did it all without any complaints.

The sweet ladies at my school threw me a shower last week. We are so thankful for everything they have done for my little growing family. We have lots to organize and get done and will have even more to do with showers coming up.
Don't hate on the mess! It will soon be a place for our baby girl to lay her head to rest at night! Eeekkk! I can't wait!

Summer Lovin: Nursery prep and baby showers will be how I spend most of my summer. Once I get back from Vegas, I will be put on no travel so all the shower fun will be happening during the month of June. Speaking of VEGAS....t-minus 32 days until I leave for the iTeach 2nd and TPT conferences! I can't wait to present and see some of my favorite people!

The rest of my time will be spent with my feet propped up (doctors orders), in the sweet sunshine, and at the lake relaxing. Although the school year was wonderful, I'm ready for some downtime.

Earlier I mentioned that Texas has experienced some awful flooding and storms the past few weeks. If you know me, you know that I am a true Texan and will do anything to help my great state. Farley has set up donations to help the town of Wimberley, which has suffered severe devastation due to storms. You can donated to help Wimberley Animal Adoption and Rescue by clicking here
