I’ve been keeping a secret!

Oh my goodness ya’ll! I have been MIA to the blogging world for over a month. I apologize but I promise I have a good reason. I’ve been keeping a secret for a few weeks now! Would you like to know? Ok, I’ll tell you because I just can’t keep it in any longer!
On Friday, March 6th was the day before we released for spring break. The kids came in and started on their morning work just like they do everyday. After announcements, I told them to put it up. They looked at me like “did my teacher really just say I could put up my morning work?” I told them that today was going to be a very special day and that I had been keeping a big secret from them. They immediately started trying to guess what it was. I got things like “we get to have recess all day” and “are we going to paint”? After their little hearts couldn’t take it anymore, I told them we were going to play a game called hangman. After I explained the rules, I drew out several blanks on the whiteboard and called on students to guess a letter. They figured out the secret before the puzzle was completely solved. Can you guess what it said?

It’s true. Baby B will be here in September! I wish I would have had someone take pictures or video their reaction. It was absolutely priceless and made my heart so happy. Once the secret was out, they were full of all sorts of questions. Here are a few of my favorites…
“Are you going to bring the baby to school after spring break?”
“Does the baby like zebra print like you?”
and my favorite….they’ve noticed that I haven’t been drinking Dr.Pepper lately which is something I always did after every afternoon. I explained that I have to eat healthier so that the baby will be healthy. Here is the questions I got next…
“Is the baby going to smell like Dr.Pepper”. HAHAHA! This still makes me laugh!
We also had a faculty luncheon that day at school. The only people that knew was my principal and one other person. I took some pink and blue cookies for desert along with this cute little sign to reveal the big news.
So after lunch, I come into the room with one of these cookies in my hand. ALL of my kids shouted at one time “you can’t eat that.” “You’re going to make the baby sick”. They were definitely looking out for me. I explained that it was ok for me to have some sugar just not a lot. Needless to say they would not let it go and I had to put the cookie down. Little do they know that I ate it when they went to PE 10 minutes later. HA!
So now you know why I’ve been MIA. I’m 13 weeks along on this new journey and we could not be more excited. I come home from work and literally don’t get off the couch until it is time to go to bed. This baby has definitely taken a lot of energy out of me. Now that you know why I’ve been MIA, please don’t be mad. I promise I’ll come back as soon as I’m back up to speed.
Here are few photos we took a few days ago for our big reveal.
*these boots were my dads a child.*
I wish I had some awesome chalkboard writing skills but I just don’t. This is as fancy as I get.
This one is my favorite. If you are friends with me on Facebook (my personal page) then you’ve already seen this.
We are big sports fans in the Bernethy house. College football and baseball taking the top two spots. With baseball right around the corner, we couldn’t help but buy some Texas Rangers onesies. It’s the only thing we’ve bought so far. 🙂
Now I’m going to find something salty to eat. This baby is hungry! 🙂 Stay tuned for more “bump dates”
