Five for Friday: April 25th

I feel like it has for-ev-er since I've linked up with Doodle Bugs Teaching. Its been a crazy week but I'll do my best to share it with you.

We reviewed prefixes this week. On Monday, I made these anchor charts and we brainstormed words for our journals. I've been so forgetful lately that I forgot to take a picture of their journals but thought you'd like to see the charts we made.

We skated right into measurement this week with my Skating into Measurement unit. We measured everything we could get our little hands on. Here are our two favorite activities from the week. This roll and measure center came can be found in my measurement unit and my Bloomin Math Centers.
They rolled a dice, then had to measure a line in either inches or centimeters based on which number they rolled.

Then we did a little Find Someone Who! I taped the skateboard cards onto their backs. They had to find a partner and measure the card on each others backs. They LOVED it. The best part of the whole lesson though was when we had a fire drill during the middle of it and we had to walk outside with cards on our backs. The other classes thought it was funny and the kids liked showing off the fun they were having.

We've been studying habitats all week in science. I'll share more on this next week when we wrap up our unit. National Geographic has a great, kid friendly, habitat website that is full of photos, videos, games and so much more. They spent their entire computer lab time on it and didn't complain one time. Click here to go to the site.

Today I checked out these videos from our library. My kids asked me what they were. #youknowyou'regettingoldwhen….#ripvhstapes

We will be studying the branches of government next week in social studies. I just uploaded this new unit to TPT last night. I can't wait to share if with ya'll next week. It's on sale all weekend.

I'm participating ia giveaway over at Reading & Writing Readheads. She is celebrating a recent milestone and I'm so excited that she asked me to be a part of it. There are several packs up for grabs including a quiet pencil sharpener. Head on over to her blog to check it out and to enter.

My parents are coming in for the weekend and I'm so excited about it. Enjoy your weekend everyone!
